Our planet is experiencing a dangerous decline in flora and fauna, with over a million plant and animal species estimated to become extinct before 2100. Marina Bay Sands is dedicated to safeguarding biodiversity and contributing towards the sustainable development of communities around us.

Restoring our Ecosystems

Rainforest in Southeast Asia

Through groundbreaking collaborations with conservation partners and thought leaders, Marina Bay Sands is on an ongoing mission to restore nature.

Over the years we have played host to acclaimed environmental exhibitions at ArtScience Museum, including the annual Waves of Change festival, Singapore Eco Film Festival and the trailblazing sensorial experience, Sensory Odyssey: Into the Heart of Our Living World.

We have also invested in nature-based offsets and established pioneering collaborations with the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) Singapore to raise awareness and create change in key biodiversity issues.

Endangered Species

Sustainable fishing

Marina Bay Sands works in hand with conservation experts to identify at-risk seafood and has championed the banning of specific products, including Sharks’ Fin and introduced restrictions on threatened species like Bluefin Tuna.

We set challenging targets across property to source fully-certified sustainable seafood, using only the world’s most respected and rigorous certifications, delivered by the Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) and Aquaculture Stewardship Council (ASC).

Otter in Marina Bay, Singapore

While Marina Bay Sands is located at the heart of the city, we are home to a surprisingly bountiful variety of flora and fauna. From birdlife, including White Bellied Sea Eagles and Peregrine Falcons, to whole families of smooth-coated otters, visitors are treated to frequent sightings of wildlife in the Bay area.

The resort is also an oasis for plant diversity, hosting over 150 different plant species. From the native Leea Rubra shurbs with its vibrant, red flowers to the ornamental Dwarf Umbrella Tree, the meticulous landscaping not only fosters a visually captivating landscape but also sustains a flourishing ecosystem.

This abundance of nature attracts all kinds of wildlife and we are proud to have a policy that protects these species as much as possible. This includes the rehoming of beehives, offering a chance for these colonies to thrive again in nature.
