Marina Bay Sands’ community engagement programme, Sands Cares, concluded the 10th edition of its signature event, Sands for Singapore Charity Festival, with close to S$4.6 million raised for local charities. Since its inception in 2013, over S$39 million has been raised through the multi-day Festival.
The 10th Charity Festival saw 10 weeks of community engagement activities and innovative fundraising efforts from 17 June to 25 August 2024, highlighting strength in unity as businesses, non-profits and the public came together to make a collective difference for society. Making a special return on this 10th edition was the ice-cream pop-up, Scoops of Hope, where sales proceeds of 10 specially crafted flavours by Marina Bay Sands’ celebrity chef restaurants and F&B team were channelled to Metta Café’s vocational training programme.
Sands for Singapore Charity Festival culminated in the annual three-day Festival at Event Plaza, where the public participated in a series of activities to support communities in need. One highlight was Heartwork: Upcycling for Good, a new addition to the Festival that enabled visitors to breathe new life into plastic bottle caps from Marina Bay Sands and upcycle them into beautiful mementos. Other activities include the Giving Marketplace - a platform for non-profits, social enterprises and small businesses to raise funds through handmade goods and awareness, gourmet pop-ups by Marina Bay Sands’ signature restaurants, and free nightly performances by local musicians.
Over 4,000 of Marina Bay Sands’ Team Members participated in more than 20 community events over 10 weeks, contributing more than 6,600 volunteer hours. These events included a toy donation drive to support children afflicted with cancer, sprucing up transitional shelters for lower-income families, art jamming, and spreading cheer to seniors residing in nursing homes in the lead-up to Singapore’s National Day, underscoring the spirit of volunteerism and togetherness at Marina Bay Sands.
Thank you for your unwavering support towards our annual Sands for Singapore Charity Festival as we continue to make a positive difference in our community.

SCOOPS OF HOPE
Over 10 days, the ice-cream pop-up featured 10 specially crafted flavours by Marina Bay Sands’ celebrity chefs including Chef Tetsuya Wakuda from Waku Ghin, along with chefs from Bread Street Kitchen, CUT and Maison Boulud. Marina Bay Sands’ Executive Pastry Chef Hoi Kuok I completed the round-up with flavours such as Kaya Toast, Soda Pop and The King.
All proceeds went towards supporting Metta Café’s mission of providing F&B vocational training programmes for graduates with intellectual disabilities.
HEARTWORK: UPCYCLING FOR GOOD
New to the Festival this year, the upcycling plastic waste initiative enabled visitors to make a token donation and breathe new life into plastic bottle caps, upcycling them into functional products such as heart-shaped coasters and key chains.
More than 35,000 plastic bottle caps from Marina Bay Sands’ restaurants and kitchens were recycled and contributed to the coasters and keychains.
Proceeds were channelled directly to support AWWA’s Transitional Shelter programme.
GIVING MARKETPLACE
A total of 16 booths were featured in the third edition of the social marketplace to support non-profit organisations, social enterprises and small businesses to raise funds and drive awareness of their causes.
Handcrafted items, baked goods and lifestyle products were made by beneficiaries from local non-profit and charitable organisations, such as APSN, ART:DIS, SPD, The Shy Crafter and Jojomama.
All proceeds were retained directly by the participating organisations to support their causes.
HOMEGROWN TALENT
To celebrate the local arts scene, the Festival hosted three nights of live performances, headlined by renowned local musicians shazza, Glenn Yong and Ben Hum, alongside local bands Shirlyn + The UnXpected, Supersonic and 53A.
Performers from Redeafination, MINDS and ART:DIS put up heart-warming performances during the opening ceremony.
GOURMET POP-UPS
Marina Bay Sands’ signature restaurants – Black Tap, Origin + Bloom, RISE and Yardbird – offered a spectacular array of gourmet treats and beverages, specially priced for the public to indulge for a good cause.
In addition to all-time favourites, the restaurants spotlighted local flavours in celebration of Singapore’s 59th birthday, including Rendang Beef Chilli Hotdog from Black Tap, Nasi Lemak Sandwich from Yardbird, and a sumptuous array of local hawker fare like Chicken Satay and XO Carrot Cake from RISE.
Proceeds were channelled directly to support AWWA’s Transitional Shelter programme.
COMMUNITY CHEST ENGAGEMENTS
Co-organised by Marina Bay Sands and Community Chest, the annual events took place on 24 August and galvanised partners, volunteers and the community to walk as one towards a more caring and inclusive society.
All proceeds raised through the Community Chest Heartstrings Walk and the Vertical Marathon were directed to programmes supported by Community Chest, to empower the lives of children with special needs and youth-at-risk, adults with disabilities, persons with mental health conditions, and seniors and families in need of support.
TOY DONATION DRIVE
In June, over 200 Marina Bay Sands Team Members collectively donated more than 1,300 new toys, games and books for children afflicted with cancer.
This was done in partnership with LOVE, NILS, to support children with cancer and their caregivers. The gifts were distributed to bring cheer to children undergoing long-term cancer treatment in hospitals.
ART JAMMING
In July, Marina Bay Sands Team Members volunteered in a series of art jamming sessions and were each paired with beneficiaries from Singapore Red Cross’ local programmes.
The completed art canvases were joined together to form a bigger artwork, which was displayed during the 9th Singapore Humanitarian Conference by The Singapore Red Cross.
SPRUCING UP TRANSITIONAL SHELTERS
In July, Marina Bay Sands partnered with AWWA, one of Singapore’s largest multi-service social service agencies, to support lower-income families by enhancing their living conditions in temporary shelters.
A dedicated team of 30 volunteers from Marina Bay Sands assembled furniture and painted the housing units to create a safer and more comfortable environment for these families.
NATIONAL DAY CELEBRATIONS
In August, Marina Bay Sands Team Members organised a heartwarming National Day Celebration at Moral Home for the Aged Sick to spread cheer and bring joy to the seniors residing in the nursing home.
The volunteers of the event went the extra mile to plan a variety of activities to foster a joyous atmosphere filled with music, singalong sessions and games with nostalgic themes, before presenting a beautifully decorated cake to commemorate the Nation’s 59th birthday.
