Marina Bay Sands is the first venue in Singapore to be awarded the SG SafeEvent Certification, and recently obtained the ISO45001:2018 certification, an international standard for operational health and safety.
Sands Expo and Convention Centre recently enhanced its safety and hygiene offering, adding the SG SafeEvent Certification and ISO40051:2018 Certification to its growing list of credentials.
The award-winning venue was the first in Singapore to attain the SG SafeEvent Certification, a nationally recognised certification programme launched by Enterprise Singapore, Singapore Tourism Board (STB) and the Singapore Association of Convention and Exhibition Organisers and Suppliers. Awarded only to venues which meet strict requirements and uphold best practices, beyond what is mandated by STB’s Safe Business Events framework, Sands Expo joins a pioneering group of companies to be awarded the certification. The independent auditing process covers aspects such as risk and emergency management plans and control measures to be implemented before, during and after each event.
In addition, Sands Expo recently attained the ISO45001:2018 certification, the international standard for an Occupational Health and Safety Management System published by the International Organization for Standardization. It includes a rigorous auditing process that assesses how a venue manages risk, worker safety and injuries.
“Attaining these certifications underscores our commitment to providing a safe environment for our team members, clients, guests and stakeholders. It also provides us with a baseline measure of the health and safety culture at Marina Bay Sands. We are confident that our leadership in this field will further augment our position as the trusted venue for our clients – a safe place to meet, engage and drive socio-economic progress in the communities they serve,” said Mr Ong Wee Min, Vice President of Conventions & Exhibitions, Marina Bay Sands.
