2219: Futures Imagined Drop-In Session
About 2219: Futures Imagined Drop-in Session
Complimentary for 2219: Futures Imagined ticket holders, visitors can drop in anytime during the session make the paper beads.
Everything But Gold serves as a form of conceptual drawing project linking the past, the present as well as what the artist deems as significant concerns into the future. The special paper beads are part of Adeline Kueh’s installation, Everything But Gold. Each bead functions as a tiny time capsule held in trust for the future.
In 2219: Futures Imagined, Adeline Kueh is positioning herself as an artist who is mediating between the flows of capital & labour, the various persons & communities that were engaged as crafters, as well as with the sourcing of materials from Sarawak.
Aspects of sustainability & recycling are also expanded with the use of everyday materials found around the artist for the beads made - art & design magazines - in place of the earlier calendars of the 60s & 70s.
It is hoped that the full circle of involvement in both Singapore & Sarawak from 1963 to 2219 engages ideas about art practice & production as a continuous and resilient form of love and care.
