Gear up and pick from our list of adventures, including a guided quest with our Education Specialist, creating your own comic Mars-terpiece, and learning about space travel – from the rocket launch to recovery.

Planetary Papercraft

Create Comics Mars-terpieces (That Are Out of This World)! With AJ Low

Recommended age group: 7 – 12 years old
Join bestselling writer duo AJ Low on a journey through time and space as they work with participants to create comics inspired by our planetary neighbour, Mars! After a tour of the exhibition, Mars: The Red Mirror, participants will learn more about the basics of comics creation and its visual language, before writing and drawing their very own mini comic Mars-terpiece!
Artists’ bio
Adan Jimenez and Felicia Low-Jimenez are A.J. Low, are the husband-and-wife writing team behind the best-selling Sherlock Sam series of children’s books. Felicia is also the publisher at Difference Engine, a Singaporean indie comics publisher. Adan was the comics editor for LONTAR: The Journal of Southeast Asian Speculative Fiction and has worked in and around comics most of his life.

Rocket Science (And Art) Workshop by SEDS

Recommended age group: 10 years old and up
Gear up and experiment with Students for Exploration and Development of Space this school holiday to learn more about the art and science of rocketry, from preparing a rocket launch to how parachutes are used during recovery.
Explore the materials used to build rockets, the basic principles of parachutes, and how air resistance and gravity play a part in the process of launching rockets.
Collaborator’s bio
Students for the Exploration and Development of Space Singapore (SEDS) is a non-profit student organisation that aims to drive interest in space, through various projects and outreach efforts. Currently, the organisation runs the Rocketry Club, which is a collaboration between National University of Singapore, Nanyang Technological University and Singapore University of Technology and Design, to design, build, and fly high powered rockets in international competitions.

Embark on a special quest led by our Education Specialist to uncover stories, from past to present, about the most explored planet in our solar system, Mars. Kids, come ready to learn cool facts and take part in fun games and quizzes! After completing the quest, you will be awarded with a specially designed sticker!
