Expanded Realities Conversations with Daniel Birnbaum and Honor Harger

Join us to imagine the future possibilities of contemporary art and technology as we explore how extended reality is transforming museums in inexplicable ways.

Daniel Birnbaum (Artistic Director of Acute Art) will discuss the expanding role virtual, augmented and mixed reality is playing in arts and cultural institutions worldwide, and share what it is like collaborating with internationally renowned artists who are exploring new technologies for the first time. What made pioneering performance artist Marina Abramović, for instance, enter the digital landscape to produce virtual reality work, Rising? How did Acute Art begin collaborating with KAWS, one of the most iconic artists of this generation, on a major new augmented reality app launch?

This iteration in Expanded Realities Conversations is presented in conjunction with the opening of ArtScience Museum’s VR Gallery with Hyperrealities – a collection of virtual reality works by Marina Abramović, Olafur Eliasson and Anish Kapoor. The programme will be hosted and moderated by Honor Harger (Executive Director of ArtScience Museum).
