SPECIAL EVENT
Sound Matters by NAFA School of Music
Under the direction of Dr Zechariah Goh (Head of Composition, NAFA) and Dr Nellie Seng (Head of Keyboard Studies, NAFA), young composers and musicians demonstrate different possibilities of composing for performance through improvisations with found objects and found sounds to search out the sound qualities of diverse materials.
Spatial Symbiosis (Lim Han Quan, Sherman Lee Le Xuan, Alyssa Loh Ci En, Izharul Haq) draws on the transient, ephemeral sounds in environments for soundscape composition and captures them in this improvisatory performance. | 11.30am – 11.45pm; 12.15pm – 12.30pm
Bi-Psycho (Chung Ee Yong, Zhang Mei Ruo Tong Roxanne, Wong Cheow Cai, Lim Jonelle) is a sonic exploration of a bicycle and its mechanisms that reveals its musical potential. Inspired by the human thought process, the piece represents continuous sporadic, nonlinear thinking. | 1.30pm – 1.45pm; 2.15pm – 2.30pm
den(S)ity (Rebecca Tan Ting Yan, Seem Jia Ang, Joey Yeo Zhe Qi) attempts to capture the qualities and colours of sound as it passes through different states of matter, offering an aural exploration of how we might experience sound in different media. | 3.30pm – 3.45pm; 4.15pm – 4.30pm
