Wellness Wednesdays with Singapore Association for Mental Health
The workshops are offered as part of our education programme for MENTAL: Colours of Wellbeing.

Workshops

Storytelling & Schizophrenia: Experiencing the Gap
7 Sep 2022 | 3pm – 4.30pm
This is a creative nonfiction workshop with an experiential twist, to allow participants to imagine what it may be like to recover from schizophrenia and pick up the pieces of life again, after a period of mental breakdown. -
Loving Yourself with Contour Drawing
5 Oct 2022 | 3pm – 4.30pm
Participants learn to love themselves and embrace their life situation. Using colours, shapes and blind contour drawing, they will create a personal self-portrait. -
A Journey through Dots
4 Jan 2023 | 3pm – 4.30pm
Slow down and engage in a time of mindful creation. Participants will create an image of their choice using coloured dots. -
The Art of Doing Nothing
1 Feb 2023 | 3pm – 4.30pm
Participants will come together to explore the meaning behind doing nothing. We will be exploring and creating our ideal space to better care for ourselves.
About the Facilitators

Serene Goh, Programme Specialist, SAMH Creative Hub
Serene Goh designs, facilitates and evaluates creative programmes, as part of her work in mental health education, prevention, and rehabilitation. She holds a B.A. in Development Studies from Brown University and an M.A. in Creative Writing from Goldsmiths, University of London.

Terence Hou, Programme Specialist, SAMH Creative Hub
Terence specialises in the design and facilitation of art programmes at SAMH Creative Services to support rehabilitative efforts and mental health initiatives. He has a B.A. of Arts in Art Education from Nanyang Technological University and has vast experiences teaching the art curriculum in secondary and tertiary schools.

Deborah Chen, Manager, Community Partnership & Head of Creative Services
Deborah began her journey with Singapore Association for Mental Health (SAMH) in 2011, as one of the pioneers of SAMH Creative Services. Over the years, she has come to bear witness and devote her practice to how the arts can improve mental health. She has an M.A. in Art Therapy and a B.A. majoring in Visual Communications.

Wendy Lim, Art Therapist, SAMH Creative Hub
Wendy holds an M.A. in Art Therapy from Goldsmiths, University of London, on top of a B.A. in Psychology. She has more than 5 years of working experience with a diverse population group ranging from youths to the elderly.
