A week of innovation and collaboration in business events

Sands Expo & Convention Centre was buzzing with activity during two back-to-back business events in April.

In April, Sands Expo & Convention Centre played host to two back-to-back exceptional business events in the same week. The venue buzzed with innovation and collaboration, as organisers and delegates came together with shared vision of shaping the future of the events industry.

Kicking off the week was PCMA Asia Pacific's The Business of Events, themed "UNBOUND". This dynamic event offered attendees a rich tapestry of workshops, discussions, and experiential spaces.

Marina Bay Sands' booth emerged as a highlight, providing a preview of the venue’s upcoming wellness experiences, amidst the hustle and bustle of the conference. From therapeutic massages to detox juices, the wellness offerings showcased the venue's commitment to holistic event experiences.

Led by industry experts including the management team at Sands Expo & Convention Centre, insightful workshops delved into topics such as artificial intelligence to sustainability and event design, providing attendees with actionable insights and strategies to navigate an ever-evolving landscape.

Ong Wee Min, Vice President of Sales and MICE at Marina Bay Sands, shared about the intricacies of event design, shedding light on how venues can collaborate with event organisers to create meaningful and memorable experiences for attendees. Drawing on Marina Bay Sands' Bay Precinct Strategy, Wee Min emphasised the importance of leveraging partnerships and innovation to elevate the event experience and take delegates beyond Sands Expo to the rest of the Marina Bay precinct.

Hot on the heels of PCMA's The Business of Events was The Meetings Show APAC, a landmark event in partnership with Northstar Travel Group. This inaugural show marked a significant milestone in the industry, bringing together stakeholders from across the Asia Pacific region under one roof.

David Blansfield, Executive Vice President, Northstar Travel Group, shared, “Bringing the industry stakeholders together under one roof has been our vision since a decade ago. With The Meetings Show APAC, we've expanded this concept beyond borders and turned our vision into a reality, fostering a successful platform for industry convergence and collaboration."

An exhibitor, Darren Crichton-Browne, Managing Director of dcb events, added, "The inaugural show is a prime opportunity to witness firsthand the burgeoning meetings market in this region. Our participation not only enables us to showcase offshore opportunities but also demonstrates our commitment to supporting our clients' global ambitions."

Throughout the event, attendees were treated to a series of panel discussions that provided valuable insights on trending topics such as wellness.

During one discussion, Genevieve Lim, Executive Director of MICE Management at Marina Bay Sands, emphasised that wellness should be considered a fundamental element for all events. This could be in the form of short mindfulness breaks between sessions or scheduled activities such as yoga to give delegates a break from sitting or standing in conference halls.

Off the back of the success of the two business events, Marina Bay Sands looks forward to continuing its role as a leader for industry innovation and collaboration, turning Singapore into the world's best MICE city.
