Imagine receiving a postcard from decades into the future. What kind of world would it speak of? What imaginative visions does it hold?
In this participatory activity, dreamers of all ages are invited to share messages from their future selves on postcards. Be it through writing, drawing, or collaging, visitors are invited to respond to prompts which ask them to imagine the world they hope to live in, and how they might begin to shape it.
The postcards will come together in an evolving participatory installation of futures that grows with each visitor’s contribution. Embodying the collaborative nature of worldbuilding, this display draws visitors to read and respond to a stranger’s vision of the future, creating an open space for intergenerational dialogue.
Messages from the Future is playful, reflective and above all, inclusive — it celebrates a future that has a place for everyone to leave their mark on.
A companion to the exhibition Another World Is Possible, this activity extends an opportunity for visitors to engage in their own acts of worldbuilding beyond the gallery. Come pause, dream and leave a message for the world to come!
Futures Festival: Worlds in the Making is an invitation to hold the future open. It brings together the community in a shared exploration of plural worlds emerging from the equator — worlds that are generous, resilient and already in the making.
