Singapore Relaxes Safe Management Measures — Top Four Changes and New Happenings at Marina Bay Sands
With the easing of Singapore’s safe management measures, the team at Marina Bay Sands put together a list of most notable changes and happenings for guests to look forward to.
Featuring a majestic up-lit Kumiki wood façade, WAKUDA stands tall at the heart of Marina Bay Sands’ hotel lobby
Event organisers and delegates who visited Marina Bay Sands recently may have noticed something different – more seats at the table, meeting rooms abuzz with chatter and excitement, and performances not seen in over two years are back.
With the recent easing of safety guidelines in Singapore, what does it mean for event organisers and delegates when they next host and attend events at Marina Bay Sands?
1. Organise events safely without the need for additional applications with the authorities
Business event organisers looking to host their events in Singapore will no longer need to submit an application to Singapore Tourism Board or the Ministry of Trade and Industry (MTI). However, event organisers are still required to ensure that all Safe Management Measures (SMMs) are adhered to.
The dedicated MICE compliance team has had the experience working with clients to organise numerous successful key pilot events since 2020. With the team’s in-depth understanding of the regulations, coupled with the consultative approach taken with clients, you can be assured that events hosted at the integrated resort are compliant with the latest SMMs, even as restrictions ease.
2. Larger meetings now possible
Events can now return bigger and better than ever, as group size and capacity limits, zoning or safe distancing requirements are no longer a requirement. From 29 April, more voices can join in the conversation, heralding livelier discussions at events and social gathering.
However, vaccination-differentiated safe management measures (VDS) continue to apply to events with more than 500 pax at any one time. Event organisers and the venue must ensure that all participants are fully vaccinated.
Whether you are hosting cosy meetings of a hundred, or a dialogue in the thousands, our team is able to transform the space into the perfect one for your event.
3. Live performances and nightlife to return
The resumption of Singapore’s nightlife sector on 19 April was a major step towards the city’s full reopening and living with Covid-19.
Visitors can look forward to catching Spectra – A Light & Water Show, a free nightly outdoor performance set against the backdrop of Marina Bay Sands at the Event Plaza. A beautiful symphony of fountain jets, colourful visual projections, and technical lasers, lava and mist effects, dance in tandem with a majestic orchestral soundtrack. It is a dramatic state-of-the-art multimedia experience worthy of any VIP.
One of Marina Bay Sands’ hidden gems is set to shine again as AVENUE Singapore reopens its doors. The bespoke lounge welcomed guests on Friday, 29 April. Corporates and incentive groups will also have more to celebrate with the reopening of Marquee, Singapore’s largest nightclub, in time to come.
Live DJs are also back in full force. Experience sky-high dining amid lively beats as the DJs make an appearance after a two-year hiatus at LAVO Singapore Restaurant & Rooftop Bar, a luxurious venue for hearty Italian-American fare. Set atop the Sands SkyPark overlooking Singapore’s spectacular city skyline, watch as the DJs transform the restaurant into a dramatic party destination as night falls.
4. More dining options on property
No trip to Singapore is complete without paying a visit to some of the most gastronomic experiences in the country.
Wakuda, the brainchild of Chef Tetsuya Wakuda and restaurateur John Kunkel of the 50 Eggs Hospitality Group, opened its doors on 17 April to present an exceptional and authentic Japanese dining experience. Joining the line-up of celebrity chef and signature restaurants at Marina Bay Sands, Wakuda is Chef Tetsuya’s second restaurant at the iconic integrated resort after his two-Michelin-starred Waku Ghin.
Set against a vibrant backdrop of artful collision of time and culture, guests can expect time-honoured ingredients and methods, and a good amount of sake.
With these top four changes and new happenings, guests are in for not just a safe trip, but a memorable one filled with one-of-a-kind experiences across the entire integrated resort.
