About Chris Ang

An avid music fan turned DJ and sound engineer, Chris is currently the Technical and Managing Director of BCUBE Productions. Technical equipment and unusual musical instruments have fascinated Chris since he was a teenager, especially the theremin.

A few years ago, Chris chanced upon a theremin at a shop selling second hand instruments and brought it home immediately. Having almost no formal music training (aside from being in the violin club and concert band in primary school), Chris discovered to his joy that the theremin is played by intuition and started practising it in a slightly unorthodox way – using a karaoke machine.

After sharing a few performance videos to social media during COVID-19 lockdown, Chris was invited to play at Singapore Community Radio and MTV Asia. He has also collaborated with content producers to feature the theremin in a more light-hearted performance setting.
