Presented in collaboration with Film Nerve, participants will have a hands-on experience of making a 16mm film entirely without a camera or a darkroom.

Exploring the basics of chemigrams in 16mm filmmaking, the workshop will introduce this simple but fascinating technique with a focus on sustainable materials and approaches.

By applying plant matter and everyday materials commonly found at home such as tea leaves and sugar to 16mm film strips, and using eco-developer solution made with plants, participants will create their own film sequences with a variety of abstract forms, patterns and shapes.

Pioneered by artist Pierre Cordier in the 1950s, chemigrams refer to the experimental, cameraless process of painting on light-sensitive paper with chemicals.

The films will then be projected together on a 16mm projector for viewing at the end of the workshop. No prior experience is required.

Film Nerve is an artist-run analog film lab and collective, focused on analog film experimentation as well as resource and knowledge sharing since 2024. Film Nerve is founded by artist-filmmakers Mark Chua and Lam Li Shuen.

Programme Duration

· 3pm – 4pm: Screening of Climate in Therapy (PG13)

· 4pm – 5.30pm: Facilitated discussion and reflection with Post-Growth Singapore

Information and lived experiences with the ecological crisis can leave us navigating difficult emotional responses – anger, fear, sadness, despair and sometimes hope. Emotions are at the heart of the climate conversation, yet they often remain unspoken and can quietly weigh on our mental wellbeing and sense of agency.

What happens when we make space to share and reflect on those feelings together?

Presented in collaboration with Post-Growth Singapore, this programme begins with a screening of Climate in Therapy as a starting point, followed by a gentle facilitation and conversation led by PGS.

Through guided prompts, we explore the role of emotional responses to environmental challenges, and consider how collective reflection can not only become a means of creating change, but also a way of transforming anxiety into hope, purpose, and connection. Can shared dialogue perhaps bring about new forms of eco-hope and resilience?

Open to anyone interested in exploring climate emotions, this programme is recommended for participants aged 14 and above, whether you are new to climate conversations or have years of experience in the environmental field. You are welcome to share your thoughts and feelings, or simply listen and reflect alongside others. Both are equally valuable ways of taking part.

Join us for an afternoon of watching, discussing and reflecting together.

Post-Growth Singapore is a ground-up movement dedicated to envisioning and building a future where wellbeing is prioritised in a socially just and equitable society in harmony with nature.

About the film

Climate in Therapy is a documentary by director Nathan Grossman (I Am Greta) that brings seven climate scientists together in a room to share about their feelings of climate anxiety. A humorous, inventive and serious experiment, Grossman engages therapist Richard Beck with a challenging and delicate task – encouraging the scientists, who are much better at talking about natural disasters, at expressing their own personal emotions about the climate crisis.
